THIS week’s Days of the Old School Yard contains a memorable three pictures – all from the same regular reader.

Brenda Page, of West Road, Plaistow, has spent the last seven years researching the history of her family – the Cornwells and Bugbys – from the Canning Town area around the Thirties.

The first photograph shows an uncle of hers – John Cornwell – sitting cross-legged extreme right when he was part of Barry FC based in Clarkson Road, Canning Town.

Said Brenda: “A second cousin, Rose Gooch of Maud Road, Plaistow, is featured in my second picture taken of pupils from Stock Street School, Plaistow.”

And Rose is the Queen Grace in the 1929 photo.

Brenda would like any family member to contact her on (020) 8472 9694.

Thanks for the memories, Brenda.
