HERE'S Johnny!
Fans of The Shining will remember the immortal line uttered by Jack Nicholson.
Taking their cue from the plot of the '80s film classic, in which Jack Nicholson takes up a caretaking job in an isolated hotel, Year TenCreative & Media Diploma pupils at Brampton Manor School created their own short own films imagining the life of a school caretaker.
Unlike the Kubrick horror film there was no need for an 18 certificate for the students' work, which was designed for a public audience, including their family and teachers.
The five video art installations were screened on the stairwell leading to the art department in the building of the school in Roman Road in an event last week that also featured live dramatic performances.
Inspiration for the kids' film project came from a trip to the Stanley Kubrick archive in Elephant & Castle. A spokesperson for the school said: "The children were among the first students to be granted access to the Kubrick archives.
"We decided that he was especially relevant to their course as he filmed his war movie Full Metal Jacket at Beckton Gasworks."
The pupils' project, which was led by film maker Eelyn Lee and photographer Natasha Caruana, was supported by The University of Arts and Newham Creative Hub.
Newham Creative Hub is a three-year government arts project designed to promote links between schools and further and higher education colleges in the borough.
