Dream play for pupils

05 August 2010
ELIZABETHAN verse proved no problem for pupils at a Beckton primary school who took on the daunting task of performing a Shakespeare play.

Year Six children at Ellen Wilkinson Primary School gave their own rendition of the Shakespeare classic A Midsummer's Night Dream to parents and fellow pupils.

Sheila Mathews, Year Six teacher and literacy leader, said: "The kids loved the story and really got the point of what is was all about.

"They had a great response from the rest of the school and their parents."

In an impressive achievement the cast of the Shakespeare comedy learned their demanding lines in just four weeks.

Special credit goes to the leading members of the cast who got to grips with the tongue twisting verse. They included: Fariaha Nusrat (Hermia), Haseeb Akhtar (Lysander), Ashtyn Michael (Demetrius), Rachel Shodeinde (Helena), Azrien Idike (Oberon) and Eddy Litambola (Puck).
