01 July 2010
ALWAYS be vigilant when using your mobile phone in public.

The advice follows the theft of a phone in Barking Road, Plaistow, at 4.10pm on May 31.

The victim, a 27-year-old man, was waiting for a bus to Canning Town and was talking to his sister on the phone.

Suddenly, a teenager on a bicycle appeared and grabbed the phone from his hand.

He was riding a small black bike and is aged 15 to 17.

Newham crime prevention officer Pc Brian Walker said: "Always remain vigilant when using phones or any other item that may attract someone's attention.
